Construction NewsFollowing the largest national survey of its kind ever undertaken, involving 72,100 interviews with a representative sample of employers in England, the National Employers Skills Survey 2003 found that the highest proportion of Skills Shortage Vacancies as a percentage of all vacancies in each industry was in the Wood and Paper industry (46.2 per cent of all vacancies) followed by the Construction Industry (38.2 per cent). Source: The National Employers Skills Survey 2003:Key findings This means that out of all of British industry, apart from the Wood and Paper industry, the Construction industry is finding it the most difficult to recruit people with the skills it needs.
